Aluminum Outdoor Furniture - The Most Popular Choice For Patio Applications
Aluminum outdoor furniture is the most popular choice for patio applications because it is durability, rust resistance and manageable weight. Not all aluminum furniture, however, is created equal. Aluminum patio furniture is mainly manufactured in two types includes tubular aluminum and cast aluminum.
While either form will work well enough for outdoor applications, it is important to understand the difference between the two. Cast aluminum is a solid product. The molten metal is actually poured into a pre-made mould and after cooling. The resulting product is a completely solid furniture piece.
Because it is solid throughout, cast aluminum patio furniture will look heavier than aluminum tubular products. In addition, because this process of manufacturing, design possibilities are almost endless. Many pieces of these furniture is quite intricately designed with ornate scrollwork and curves. On the other hand, tubular aluminum furniture is crafted from hollow "tube" of aluminum that are bent into place.
Properly manufactured tubular aluminum will still produce a strong and durable product. In general, however, tubular aluminum is inferior to cast aluminum in design options, weight and strength. All metal furniture is only as good as the welds that hold it together. Search for items that are welded 3600 around each joint.
With all of the good properties, aluminum continues to be the top material choice of architects, designers and homeowners for patio furnishing. So long as the furniture manufactured by a reputable company, either from of aluminum outdoor furniture will stand the test of time in the oudoor elements.

Craft ideas for Arizona Tea aluminum can?
I just finished a giant can of Arizona Green Tea and I am in love with the design on the can. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could preserve this can, with a craft project of some sort? I'm thinking of a pencil holder, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.

since its an aluminium can, it should be rust-proof, with a very long life 
However, if you still need some protection, you could browse the net or check in stores for various sprays, laminators, etc.
as regards usage, pencil & paint-brush holder is a fine & practical idea
you could also convert it into a vase for artificial, handmade flowers or for reeds, driftwood, etc.
for real flower arrangements, place a piece of floral sponge at the base & arrange flowers, etc. as desired.
you could also add a 'false base-rim' to the can if you think it will make it look prettier. you could do it by upturning any old plate, bowl, etc. & gluing it. then color & decorate so that base & body gel together.
how about making it a candle-holder? either place a large designer candle or multiple slim candles.
convert it into a "wish jar". make little notes/tags with wishes [& chores] that you will fulfill [for your family members], inspirational quotations, quips & jokes, cartoons, etc. You can color-code them if there are many members, or if, on a particular day, you need some reassurance/motivation & want to read a quotation.
every day, someone gets to randomly pick a note & you can all enjoy what's written or chip in to fulfill that wish/chore/activity/deed, ....
you can also add separators inside the can to compartmentalize it. this way, you can place diff things in diff parts. eg. pencils in one; paint brushes in another; rulers, scissors, stapler, etc. in 3rd; gift-wrap paper rolls or bookmarks in 4th & so on.
and of course, you can keep changing its usage & placement whenever you tire of one
