All about Metal Halide Lamps
Metal halide lamps are types of lighting that consist of an arc tube that is enclosed in a bulb. They are the most preferred types of lighting when more light is needed and there is little room to put up more bulbs. Most sporting arenas have metal halide light bulbs. They are considered very efficient and effective for many reasons. The construction and working principal of these metal halide light bulbs have made them a great investment plan for people and organizations who intend to put up or replace their current lighting.
Metal halide light bulbs and metal halide lamps have a characteristic construction that outweighs the earlier types of lighting. They contain either quartz or ceramic arc filaments. Most metal halide lamp and metal halide bulbs manufacturers use the quartz arc because it is not only brighter than the ceramic arc but it can be used to work in place at high temperatures and pressure. This allows the metal halide light bulbs and the metal halide lamps to have a variety of uses. Blue LED rope lights and red rope lights have also been incorporated to achieve colored lighting
Ballast is also incorporated in the metal halide bulb to regulate the amount of current that is going to the arc. The type of ballast used determines the rate at which the bulb will become bright once it has been switched on. Most street light globes contain metal halide bulbs to ensure that not only are the streets and walkways well lit but the lighting does not take long to brighten once they are switched on. Blue LED rope lights and red rope lights have a common brightness hence do not require a ballast. The different types of ballast used include high reactance auto transformer, constant wattage auto transformer, constant isolated auto transformer and the regulated lag. The use of halogen transformers is to aid in the ionization of the gas contained in the bulb. Once the required wattage reaches the arc it vaporizes the materials inside the bulb to emit light.
The use of Light Emitting Diodes LED is becoming a popular advancement in complementing metal halide lights and metal halide light bulbs. Blue LED rope lights and red rope lights have been known to complement the brilliant white light these metal halide lamps emit. The borosilicate glass that is used in these halide lights is stable and can withstand various thermal environments. Blue LED rope lights and red rope lights have a tuff rubber coating that serves the same purpose. The glass also provides an inert atmosphere where there is no oxidation of the arc in high temperatures. This property has greatly allowed these bulbs to stay longer period of time working properly and without the need of replacement lamp globes. The Blue LED rope lights and red rope lights last long owing to their construction. The glass also reduces the amount of Ultra-violet (UV) light that is being emitted by the bulb. This property has been helpful in metal halide floods that are located in arenas. Excess UV ray would not only cause serious health hazard but would be an environmental risk.
