Is Running Gear Important To Get In Shape?
It happens all the time: people get the idea that they’re going to start running to get in shape so they rush to the store full of motivation as they prepare to drop hundreds of dollars on the latest running gear. But hold on a minute. You don’t need all that brand new running gear just to get in shape. A person needs to run to get in shape. There are a few things that one should not forget while buying running gear. You should be mindful of the weather, you should get some good shoes that will protect your knees as well as the rest of your body, and you should think about getting a heart monitor so that you know whether you’re running hard enough or not. You don’t need all that other stuff and you’ll only be wasting your money if you go out and buy a whole bunch of running gear you don’t need.
Weather And Running Gear
Where do you live? If you live in Texas, running gear should only consist of shorts and a light shirt. If you live in colder weather, on the other hand, cold weather running gear will keep you warm. Keep in mind, however, that the more you run, the more you’ll warm up but you should still buy running gear specific for the climate you’re in so that you are comfortable while you try to get in shape.
Proper Shoes
When considering running to get in shape, you absolutely need a good pair of running shoes. Running shoes should be comfortable enough so that you don’t get blisters but they should also be padded enough so that there’s no jarring on your knees. A pair of shoes is efficient for a person. You’ll want to try them on and even run a little bit in the store so that you can gauge how comfortable they are.
Miscellaneous
Good clothes and good shoes are the only running gear you absolutely need. However, you may want to get some miscellaneous stuff to help you get in shape. These are things such as a good pedometer so you can gauge your distance, a good heart monitor so you can see if you’re running in the zone or not, and a good music player, such as an iPod, to help motivate you while you’re running.
Running is probably the best way to get in shape, as long as your diet is also in check, but you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on running gear. Clothes and shoes are necessary items. Oh, and you’ll also need plenty of motivation to help you keep it up.
